A Healthy Home is a Happy Home

Homeowners have other health concerns in addition to indoor air quality. Keeping your home and family safe is important and should be based on fact, not fiction. The problem today is that there is so much misinformation about the potential dangers in our homes. This misinformation is sometimes related to misunderstanding and sometimes related to those wishing to exploit the fears of consumers. This area of our site will be dedicated to dispelling some of the misinformation and providing reliable sources of information with which you can make sound decisions about your home and your family's safety.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF):

Much has been stated concerning EMF in and around the home. Some true, some not. The truth is that the studies up to this point have been inconclusive. We suggest that you read some of the current information and make up your own mind as to the risk level involved with electromagnetic fields.

Carbon Monoxide

Probably the biggest danger to face many home and building owners is carbon monoxide. CO kills and injures thousands of people each year around the U.S. yet it is probably the most misunderstood danger that people face in their homes. People sometimes pay little attention to things they cannot see or touch. This is a bad choice where carbon monoxide is concerned. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is both colorless and odorless, however it can kill you! So do not be fooled by believing the old saying that what you can't see can't hurt you!

 Misinformation

Knowing where to go when you have environmental questions is important if you want reliable information. This has become especially true today with mold scares, mold remediation, etc. Much of the information available is simply over exaggerated or not true. Companies trying to sell remediation services should be investigated thoroughly before any remedial work is performed in your home.

If you call local companies and find one that is really cheap compared to others, remember..." if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is".  There are some cheap or free mold assessments, moisture assessments, etc. available but the companies performing them may not be giving you the most reliable or accurate information. Many companies performing such services offer long guarantees. BE CAREFUL!! What exactly does the guaranty cover? This is where many consumers are fooled.
