If you have a concern with a specific system in the home or building our expert team of professionals can evaluate the problem. Our associates include Structural/Civil Professional Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Licensed HVAC Technicians, Board Certified Indoor Air Quality Professionals and others. Our team works to assure that changes made to one system in the building does not adversely affect other systems. This building as a system approach is critical to a building which performs as designed. Too often changes are made to one system of the building by contractors, maintenance personnel or management that addresses comfort, energy or some other issue without giving thought to how the changes will affect other systems and components. That's where many problems begin.

Basement

For Additional Basement Information Click Here

Basement water, wall cracking, foundation damage, etc. are issues which can be successfully dealt with if you have a true understanding of the problem. There are many issues to consider when dealing with basement water problems. The course of action you take could affect both the future use and value of your home. This makes it important to evaluate your options with the proper knowledge of the problems and a complete understanding of proper mitigation procedures and options.

If basement walls are covered with paneling or some other material when you have the home inspected and you suspect a hidden problem, you should hire a qualified company to thoroughly assess the conditions. Many inspection companies will simply report that the foundation was not visible. Relying on such an inspection could have catastrophic consequences.

HVAC, Fuel Fired Systems & Fireplaces

With fuel prices at an all time high, homes and buildings being built tighter than ever before and local exhausts being used more than in the past, making sure that your fuel fired appliances and fireplaces are functioning correctly and efficiently is extremely important to both your budget and your safety. Every year consumers are injured or killed because of faulty fossil fuel fired appliances, and while Carbon Monoxide monitors should be strategically placed in every home they do not take the place of having your systems properly evaluated by a qualified technician.

C.L.I. uses state of art equipment to perform combustion analysis, test drafts, evaluate leaky ducts, measure static pressures and look at the entire mechanical system as a whole. Conditions can change constantly due to building pressures and pressure differentials, use of local exhausts and other critical factors which should be evaluated and corrected if needed. Our technicians can properly measure and evaluate these building and equipment parameters to assure that systems are both safe and efficient. We are N.B.I. Certified in HVAC System Balancing & Diagnostics and Code Certified Mechanical Inspectors. In addition, our technician has been trained in Carbon Monoxide testing by Jim Davis, one of the nations leading authorities on CO issues.

Roof

For Additional Roof Inspection Information Click Here

Roof leaks can be tricky, both to detect and correct. C.L.I. uses infrared thermography to assess and locate suspected roof leaks and other critical factors. Roof leaks can manifest themselves far from the actual leak location and tracking down the source can be nearly impossible with the use of high tech equipment. We have evaluated successfully both residential and large commercial roofs and helped in correcting the problems by working with contractors to identify the sources of leakage and verifying successful repairs.

When dealing with large, low slope roof applications, finding trouble areas can be the difference between a limited size repair and a complete roof replacement. Savings can be substantial. Getting the proper life cycle out of a roof cover is an important component in life cycle cost analysis on a building.

EIFS

For Additional EIFS Inspection Information Click Here

Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) has gotten plenty of publicity due to class action litigation in the industry. The blame, as in many cases of construction material defects can be traced to poor installation. When water is permitted to penetrate through the insulating insulation used in the EIFS installation it can become trapped between the insulation and the substrate which in turn causes degradation of structural components and mold. Inspecting an EIFS installation takes proper knowledge of the system and it's installation and also requires having the best equipment to perform the job. Closer Look Inspection uses the best equipment available for EIFS inspections including a FLIR infrared camera, Tramex "Wet Wall" electronic moisture meter, Delmost moisture meters with EIFS probes and Provision Borescope for looking into suspect cavities.
